Our Mission:

The Data Analysis Coordinators (DACs) provide innovative support services within the early childhood sector by coordinating and facilitating research activities, monitoring child outcomes, and enhancing capacity for evidence-informed planning.

The Data Analysis Coordinators provide support in the following areas:

  • Research on Local Child Outcomes (e.g. Early Development Instrument)
  • Evaluation & Data Literacy Training
  • Tools for Knowledge Mobilization (e.g. infographics, posters, reports, presentations, dashboards)

Research on Local Child Outcomes

The Early Development Instrument (EDI) measures children's developmental health at school entry and was created by Dr. Dan Offord and Dr. Magdalena Janus of the Offord Centre for Child Studies at McMaster University. The EDI is a 103-item checklist that is completed by Senior Kindergarten teachers for each child in their class and measures overall developmental health. Although it is completed for individual children, the EDI is a population-based measure and is not a diagnostic tool nor is it an indication of a school's performance.

Evaluation & Data Literacy Training

If you work with children and youth and your organization is looking to develop data literacy or evaluation skills, it would be our pleasure to provide a customised training session for your staff and partners. Funding for this service is provided by the Ministry of Education. To request professional development workshops, please send us an e-mail at cmillar@parentresource.ca.
