Board of Directors

 

The Parent Resource Centre is a non-profit Family Resource Centre providing caring support to under-served families in our community with extensive information and services for parents, children and caregivers.  We have been Ottawa’s source for parenting information and resources for more than 35 years.

 

The Board is a link between the community-at-large and the organization, so it benefits from a variety of talents and points of view from its Directors.  Serving on the Board of Directors offers a wonderful opportunity to develop skills, such as reading a financial statement, to networking and contributing to the community in a very meaningful way.

 

The Directors come from a wide variety of backgrounds and professions, bringing their unique perspective and experience to the Board.  Some Directors have previous Board experience while others are new to Board work of a not-for-profit organization.  Two things we all have in common is our willingness to help and a strong belief in the mandate of the Parent Resource Centre.

 

A primary responsibility as a volunteer member of the Board of Directors is to participate in the development of policy and major decision-making at monthly Board meetings.  Directors:

  • serve for a term of two years to a term limit of six consecutive years
  • attend monthly meetings
  • serve on at least one standing committee.  These committees include Finance, Human Resources, Nominating, Fundraising and Communications.
