WHOSE PASSION DREAMS OF WRITING, PLAYING OR SINGING MUSIC ON THE WORLD STAGE FROM THE PASSION OF NASHVILLE MUSIC MANAGER LEGEND, JASON DAVIS
To all of you who are hoping for a career in the music industry, know that anything is possible. From the time I was old enough to hold a little plastic guitar in my hand, I had a passion for music. You probably have different heroes, but at that time mine were Michael Jackson and Def Leopard. Like all teens, I was faced with the normal challenges and beyond. My escape was music. I would stay in my bedroom writing songs and playing guitar for hours. I didn't know it at the time, but all those hours spent in my room were the beginning of my success. My father used to tell me if you place one brick firmly every day, eventually you will build a city. My advice is to be patient and dedicated to your craft. Find your passion and never give up. Whatever your craft is, work on it daily and build your city. If I had listened to all the people who told me "you can't do that", I would have never gotten to where I am today.
Understand that whatever you choose to do in life, it will not be without hardship, but if you love something the end reward will be worth the struggle.
Everything you are doing in life can change in an instant, so be prepared for that moment. One of those instants for me was on a mountain hike. I remember looking to the sky for answers to all the challenges that I was encountering, when a song came to me. That day I picked up my guitar and wrote a song that transformed my life. The song I wrote that day won an ASCAP award for most radio airplayed songs of the year.
Also know that success is not always about how much money you have, it's about how the decisions you make impact people. It takes more than financial success to be happy. After my song was a hit, my music business began. I found myself living a lifestyle I’d only dreamed about. I was dining with celebrities in Beverly Hills, representing top record producers and recording artists from around the globe, living in a million dollar mansion on the beach, and working closely with some of the world's most famous stars. You might think that would make anyone happy, but even with all of the fame and fortune, yet there was an emptiness I couldn’t fill.
Surround yourself with people who support you and believe in your goals. Never doubt that one choice can change the course of your life, so make them wisely. The wisest decision I ever made was when I was presented with the Bible and learned about Jesus Christ. It was then that my passion and heart changed. All of a sudden instead of working to become wealthy, I was working to help others. The name of my company One One 7 is based on the scripture 1 John 1:7 as a reminder on how to operate personally and professionally. God continued to bless and grow my company to work with stars like Boyz II Men, Sugar Ray, P. Diddy, Lonestar, Dolly Parton, Alabama and so many more.
I am proof that success is yours to achieve. I have helped guide countless artists, to broader name recognition and achieve new heights. Beyond being the founder of One One 7 which represents some of the biggest songwriters and producers of our time, I am currently an artist manager at First Company Management, founded by Wes Campbell which manages multi-Grammy nominated and Dove Award winning CCM artists Newsboys, Ryan Stevenson, 7eventh Time Down, Audio Adrenaline, John Waller, Austin French and am also a founder/partner of Radar Label Group run by Loren Israel which has launched mega-selling chart topping artists Jimmy Eat World, Neon Trees and Plain White T’s. Furthermore, I am also the president of Awaken Records, Care For Kids, and the Co-President of booking agency Higher Level Agency. Although that may all sound impressive, my greatest gift has been the ability to help others through my success. So remember, as you achieve your dreams remember to “pay it forward” by also helping others achieve their dreams as well. With faith, persistence, unending determination along with surrounding yourself with the right people you can set yourself on a path of unending possibilities.
Thank You,
Jason Davis
